To Our Visitors
Welcome to the Idaho Falls Downtown Rotary Club. Our club is a group of 163 members dedicated to making a difference in our local community as well as the international community by building strong relationships, holding to high standards of integrity in business and utilizing our gifts and talents in service. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at the Red Lion Hotel at 12:10p for lunch and informative programs. Our club is a wonderful, distinguished club that has a rich history of Service Above Self. Our goal is to utilize our gifts and talents in service to the local and international community. If you are an individual who would like to utilize your gifts and talents to improve our local community and the world in which we live, I would like to personally invite you to be my guest at one of our weekly lunch meetings.
Fellow Rotarians
Thank you so much for the privilege of serving as the 94th President of the Idaho Falls
Rotary Club. It is very humbling
to look at our past-president
roster and realize that, God
willing, I will be part of this list just 12 months from now.
As you know, in May I was able to attend the Rotary
International Convention in New Orleans. For those who
have had the opportunity to attend an International
Convention, I’m sure you will attest it truly is like trying
to drink from a fire hose. To say I was totally
overwhelmed would be an understatement. If anyone
ever thought Rotary was just another organization
where friends got together for lunch, that feeling would
disappear five minutes into the convention. Spending
time in Friendship Hall, meeting fellow Rotarians from
around the world, and listening to presentations at the
plenary sessions is an experience that I will
never forget.
During the convention I had the opportunity to learn
about the hundreds of humanitarian service projects
that Rotary Clubs throughout the world are involved in
as well, as the Rotary International projects all of us
support. I believe it is these service projects which
make Rotary unique as a service organization, because
we don’t just talk, we act, and we deliver!
I am so excited about moving into a new Rotary year,
but realize President Young has left some big shoes to
fill. I feel confident that with the makeup of our Board
and the enthusiasm of our members we will be able to
continue building on our club’s accomplishments and
hopefully have some fun doing it. I have a few ideas
about service projects I would like our club to consider. I
will introduce these projects to you after we have
caught our breath from another successful Great Snake
River Duck Race.
In closing I would like to thank Vanetta Wilson and Jan
Karinen for their tireless work as board members over
the past two years. While we will miss them at our
7 am board meetings I will not let them get too far away,
as we will continue to need their ideas and support.
I know that this year will fly by and I encourage anyone
with ideas or suggestions to bring them to me. I promise
I will make myself available to you at any time.
Sincerely,
Lane Allgood
President, 2011-2012
P.S. Talk to someone about joining our club this week.
